Introduction

The Anthropic Claude coding agent uses the Claude Agent SDK and can be powered by your existing Copilot subscription. For information about Anthropic Claude, see the Anthropic Claude documentation.

Anthropic Claude coding agent

Before you can assign tasks to Anthropic Claude coding agent, it must be enabled. See Managing GitHub Copilot policies as an individual subscriber.

Supported models

When starting a task with the Anthropic Claude coding agent, you can select the AI model used by the agent. The following models are available:

  • Auto
  • Claude Opus 4.5
  • Claude Opus 4.6
  • Claude Opus 4.7
  • Claude Sonnet 4.5
  • Claude Sonnet 4.6

If you select Auto, Copilot auto model selection will select the best model based on availability and to help reduce rate limiting. For more information, see About Copilot auto model selection.
